Newspaper

Phud got a random call yesterday from a Rock Hill newspaper reporter.  He wanted to talk to him about Remedy and his new role as pastor.  So this morning we found out that Phud was on the front page of today's Rock Hill Herald.  Too funny!  So here is the article if you want to read it...

Bubble Gum

I am very sad to say that I have no pictures right now.  Our computer died and is at the HP repair center getting fixed.  So now all I can do is write stories.  This pains me so much that I wasn't going to post until the computer came back because I like pictures (let's face it, people want to see pictures, not just read long stories), but Phud suggested that I post a story.  So I thought I would show him how much I love him by  joyfully taking his suggestion.  So, now on to our bubble gum story...
Charis has a new found passion for bubble gum.  We broke down at Easter and put bubble gum in some of the eggs that we hid.  Well, little did we know that it was going to create a monster!  Charis will chew the same piece of gum ALL day long!  Even if it loses its flavor after 5 minutes.  She found our stash in our closet last week.  So after nap one day we heard little steps in our room upstairs.  I knew it was Charis!  Sure enough, down the stairs she came with her mouth full of a fresh piece of bubble gum.  To make a long story short, that night she did the same thing at bedtime.  I made her spit the gum out and about an hour later I thought I heard something again in my room upstairs.  We didn't go check until about 30 min. later.  Then when we went up to go to bed, Phud went in to check Charis and thought maybe he should check her mouth just in case and sure enough....there was a wad of gum in her mouth while she was sleeping!!!!!
So we finally used our brain and moved the stash up high.  The next morning I caught Charis in our room frantically looking around.  I asked her what was wrong (knowing exactly what was wrong) and she threw her hands up and exclaimed, "I can't find my gum anywhere and I don't know what to do."  It was so funny.  She was truly flustered!

Mr. Man's first haircut

Aiden finally received his first haircut last Friday. He now officially looks like a little man! He loved it too. He was not so much excited about me cutting his hair with the scissors but he loved it when Phud pulled out the clippers! I think he loved the vibrations and the noise it made. He smiled a lot and sat very still for Phud. The girls were so excited about it that they too wanted their hair cut. So I cut about 5 inches off of Jaycie's hair and Charis got about 3 or so inches cut. It was Charis's first haircut as well. Yes, she is 3 and has never had her hair cut at all until this day. There certainly was a lot of hair flying around!

This was a squeal of excitement.

He was not a fan of the scissors at all!!

Charis had trouble standing still which made it all the more difficult to cut her hair!

Here they are after their haircuts!!! All ready to play with sidewalk chalk!

Jaycie's 5th Birthday

Well, almost a month later, here are the pictures from Jaycie's 5th Birthday party. She turned 5 on March 23rd. She is such an amazing little girl! I can't believe it has been 5 years already!

Here they are at cake time! Jaycie requested a castle cake last June. i spent two days on this cake for her. I also made her a little cake that was just for her.

This was her special cake on her special plate. We made the plate when she was about 2 months old right before we left Wake Forest, NC to move here. The pink flowers on this cake and on the castle cake were ones that I actually made. I think I made about 600! We have lots of them left over. :-)

Here is a close up of the castle cake. She was so excited that I made it for her. It was super delicious!

Bedtime challenges...

The past week and a half Charis has had a really hard time settling in her bed a night time. She gets out of bed constantly and fights going to sleep. We find her a lot going in to Jaycie's room and sometimes waking her up claiming that she was trying to be very quiet. Many times we have found her asleep right out side of Jaycie's door on the floor. We have also found her in the bathroom on the potty sitting for very long periods of time...anything to keep from going to sleep!
This night I was so proud of her for staying in her bed...so I thought... and going to sleep so quickly and boy was I wrong. We walked in her room to check her and cover her sweet sleeping body and you see what we found!!! She had placed a book on every petal of her flower rugs and in the center and then she lined the rest up in nice neat rows. Now to help you understand how much this frustrated me...we are in the process of selling our house and I had just neatly placed these books on her bookshelf from tallest to shortest and spent a lot of time making them nice! I was a little frustrated...but it was very creative on her part and pretty funny.

Last week we put Charis to bed and at 10:30 pm we went to check on her and we could not find her!! We eventually went into Jaycie's room and this is what we found. Charis had crawled into Jaycie's bed with one of her books and was "reading" the book in the dark and fell asleep snuggling up to Jaycie. Jaycie was asleep the whole time. It was too precious. Phud did take her back to her bed though...

Spring

We had a brief taste of spring a week ago and it was wonderful. We took advantage of the awesome weather before it got cold again and we went to the park. Aiden loved it (as did the girls.) We are looking forward to another day like this soon!

Snow Day!

The kids had a blast in the snow today!!! It started snowing last night and they couldn't wait to get out in it. We let them go out twice before they went to bed. Jaycie was catching snow on her tongue and they just ran around in it. They were so excited that they could not sleep. I think Charis finally fell asleep somewhere around 9:30 and we found Jaycie in her room at 12:30 with the lights on playing!!!! So needless to say, they woke up early this morning all excited but were very cranky and emotional throughout the day! We quickly ate breakfast and then they were off to playing in the snow! Here are some pictures...
This is our snowman that we worked very hard on. I think we used almost all of the snow in our yard for this snowman! The snow was great for making snowmen! Charis did not want to leave the hat and scarf on because she thought that frosty was going to melt! The hat that frosty is wearing is the hat that Charis wore the first half of the day and is the same scarf that I used to wear when I was little.

Here is Charis enjoying the snow!!

Jaycie was so excited about the snow. We did forget to make a snow angel and she remembered at the start of nap time and it was not pretty!!! She was very distraught!! I tried to encourage her by reminding her that we had the best snowman on the street. (Everyone else still has pretty snow covered yards, but we have an awesome snowman!!)

Aiden really liked the snow!! He did not want to go in! He also wanted to play in the street but it was so icy that we wouldn't let him. He didn't like that at all!!!

This was not an easy picture to take!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charis enjoyed walking our neighbor's dog, Fiona, in the snow. Fiona decided to pee in our snow!!! So we stressed the importance of not eating of playing with yellow snow!

Yes, Aiden enjoyed eating the snow but no it is not yellow so he was good!

This was when Aiden first came outside. He loved touching the snow. We got in a huge snowball fight and I used him as my shield (after I neglected him and he wondered into the road!) Phud didn't care though. He continued to pelt me and Aiden with snow. He got us good once and Aiden started crying. After that I was safe! He didn't throw at us anymore.

I LOVE THIS FACE!!! As you can see, he liked it a lot!
